What is the difference between architects and civil engineers?

Architects dream and civil engineers fulfil that dream. This basically means that architects can design whatever they like, but civil engineers are the ones that will check if it is possible to execute that design into reality or not.
Both Civil Engineering and Architecture are involved in planning and designing structures. However, Architecture focuses more on the spatial functionality and aesthetics of the development work and is more concerned with the artistry, look, feel and functionality of the design, while Civil Engineering concentrates on the structural elements of the design, making certain that the structure can endure normal and extreme conditions.
To summarize, architecture's primary concern is designing the development work while civil engineering's responsibility is ensuring that the design is implemented in a safe and reliable manner. Civil engineers and architects may sometimes overlap each other's work but a good relationship between the two professions will make the construction job more effective and successful.
Both Architects and Civil Engineers like Residences, Commercial complex, Public Buildings etc.
But Civil Engineering has got more scope beyond this. A Civil Engineer can work in Bridges, Railway track and Harbour also where an Architect has no work or not involved.
Architecture deals with making the floor plans of a building and designing the shape of the building.  Civil Engineering, working on the same building, would deal with the material used for the building and how to design the building so it can support its own weight.  So there's quite a big difference there.  Architecture is more like arts.  Civil Engineering is more about physics.
